As part of their European journey, Swedish band Opeth opted for a single show at Wembley Arena for their UK audience. Magnus Boyd has been lighting the band for the last eighteen months. The show at Wembley was a part of the Sorceress World Tour. The first portion started in the US with twenty odd shows and continued in Europe. “During the tour, we have done special extended sets (at Radio City and Belasco in LA) featuring songs from the Deliverance and Damnation albums before the third at Wembley. The final extended set will be at the Sydney Opera House in February. These are impressive spaces that really deserve a large production; the design didn’t change much, we just doubled what we would normally have in the rig.”
Boyd hooked up with High Wycombe based rental company Siyan Limited to deliver his touring and Wembley show lighting requirements, mainly Clay Paky, MA controls and Ayrton, all exclusively distributed in the UK by Ambersphere Solutions. “Magnus was looking for a supplier, who stocked Clay Paky fixtures and MA control systems,” opens Tom Grant, Project Manager. “He and I had some initial conversations by email about his requirements and ball parked some figures/specs and we went from there”. Boyd’s final spec comprised of K20 B-Eyes, Mythos, Sharpys, Alpha Wash 700s and Stormy CCs, along with an MA2 Lite and NPU control system.
“The current design is pretty much a complete break with previous tours,” explains Boyd, “I wanted to bring in hybrid fixtures that could give me more versatility; I have used Mythos, Stormy and B-Eyes extensively with other productions and they also fit the job for Opeth. The Stormy was selected for is xenon-esque look and reflector. I wanted the Atomic look without the power consumption. The colours also give a refreshing look in combination with the reflector."
"Then myself and Petter Nilssen had a brainstorm and decided to try out the Ayrton Dream Panel Twins. The Dream Panels were chosen to replace a relatively well used three-part video wall setup. Almost every song in the set included their use but as they are so versatile, we were able to change looks continuously, starting out with content relating to the songs and progressing into more abstract material that would include fixture movement. For the encore, all hell breaks loose with some beautiful abstract video, rotation and full use of the LED side of the fixture. Content was created from a mix of video designers – Sorceress artwork by Travis Smith animated by Scott Rudd, abstract artwork created by Pekka Stokke at LJOS AS and some content created by myself with footage from Jonas Åkerlund.”
For the Wembley show, Siyan also supplied the crew in addition to the extra lighting. Crew chief Matt Morris along with Dan Everitt and Mark Baruch. Boyd is full of praise, “Altogether a very enjoyable experience indeed. They do need a better coffee machine in their warehouse though….”

Zu den ersten Nutzern der Impression X4 Serie von GLP gehört Lichtdesigner Liam Griffith. Aktuell ist Griffith nicht nur mit Neuseelands heißestem Elektroexport "The Naked And Famous" unterwegs, sondern betreut gleichzeitig auch noch die britische Electrogroup Clean Bandit. „Eine spannende Geschichte, denn beide Jobs sind eigentlich total unterschiedlich“, beschreibt Griffith die Herausforderung. Dennoch setzt er bei beiden Produktionen auf Scheinwerfer von GLP.
Für Clean Bandit arbeitet Griffith Hand in Hand mit dem Showdesigner Rob Sinclair. „Ich wollte Robs Stagedesign mit Licht eine besondere Note geben“ beschreibt Liam seine Herangehensweise. „Einfach ein paar Scheinwerfer aufs Set war keine Option, ich wollte mit dem Design von Rob arbeiten und es ergänzen." Der Tourauftakt im London Roundhouse war auf jeden Fall ein absoluter Hinkucker: alleine 12 Impression X4 Bar 10 als Frontlicht, weitere 16 X4 Bar 20 als echte Highlights entlang der Bühnenvorderkante und den Videorisern.
Einen komplett anderen Ansatz verfolgt Liam Griffith mit The Naked And Famous. „Ich hatte die Idee, die gesamte Show nur mit den Impression X4 Bars zu designen. Wir hatten relativ wenig Platz für Licht im Truck und da kamen mir die kompakten Abmessungen dieser Bars natürlich entgegen. Aber ich wollte eigentlich etwas machen, was so noch nicht zu sehen war“, so Griffith zu den ersten Ideen für die Tour. „Bisher wurden immer nur Effekte oder Cues mit den Bars abgefeuert, aber niemand ist auf die Idee gekommen, Content über die Bars abzuspielen. Der Gedanke hat mich gereizt, und so habe ich mich an die GrandMA2 gesetzt und versucht, Bitmaps und Pixelmapping über die Impression X4 Bars wiederzugeben.“ Und das Ergebnis kann sich nach Griffith' Meinung sehen lassen.
Doch obgleich Griffith den Zoom und Tilt der Impression X4 Bars fast schon exzessiv nutzt, geht es auch unauffällig, fast unsichtbar: „Diese Tour ist der absolute Beweis, dass weniger manchmal eben doch mehr ist. Wir sind mit nur elf dieser Bars auf Tour, und damit kann ich entweder Vollgas geben, aber auch ganz intime, subtile Stimmungen zaubern. Man sieht sie kaum im Bühnenbild, wenn man sie nicht sehen soll.“
Technischer Dienstleister der Tour war Upstaging, mit denen Griffith bereits eine langjährige, enge Geschäftsbeziehung unterhält.

Die Wise Guys: Abschiedstour 2016

Anfang der 1990er Jahre gründeten sich die Wise Guys aus einer Kölner Schulband und haben seit dieser Zeit etliche Erfolge mit ihrer a cappella Musik gefeiert, welche die Künstler selbst als „Vokal-Pop“ bezeichnen. Nach 25 Jahren auf der Bühne soll jetzt jedoch Schluss sein, weswegen die fünf Musiker im Rahmen einer ausgedehnten Abschiedstour aktuell ihre letzten Konzerte geben.
Für das Licht- und Set-Design war Fedor Stuhrmann von Studio 3 verantwortlich, der auch den Teil der Tour 2016 als Operator begleitete. Bestandteil der Tour waren unter anderem 18 x Claypaky Aleda K10, 9 x Claypaky Alpha Spot QWO 800, 6 x Claypaky Sharpy, 1 x MA on PC Command Wing, 1 x MA on PC Fader Wing und 1 x grandMA2 light zur Vorprogrammierung.
„Es war die Vorgabe der Wise Guys, dass das Licht- und Setdesign die Geschichte der Band erzählt und die Bühne daher wandelbar sein muss“, so Stuhrmann weiter. „Zum Beispiel zeigen wir auf einem von vier Backdrops noch das erste Bandlogo. Darüber hinaus passt die vollständige Bühne in die unterschiedlichsten Hallen, ohne dass wir Scheinwerfer oder Teile des Sets weglassen müssen. All diese Anforderungen mit einem verhältnismäßig geringem Budget umzusetzen, war eine weitere Herausforderung.“
Ramon Franz von der Ampire Showtechnik GmbH aus Aschaffenburg, die auch als technischer Dienstleister fungierte, kümmerte sich um die Sonderbauten des Kabuki-Systems und der Traversensteher. Franz erklärt: „Das ausgeklügelte Kabuki-System erlaubt es, an nur einem Traversengurt vier hintereinander hängende Back-Drops zu befestigen, von denen drei zu bestimmten Situationen während der Show abgeworfen werden. Für den Sonderbau der ‚Spiegel-Moving Lights‘ war Tim Gruber verantwortlich. Hierbei wurden sechs ältere LED-Washlights umgebaut und an der Vorderseite mit einem Spiegel und an der Rückseite mit einer Halbspiegelkugel versehen. Diese wurden dann über die Clay Paky Sharpy beleuchtet. So entstanden immer neue Looks, die keine Langeweile aufkommen ließen.“
Ebenfalls mit auf Tour ist auch das brandneue Kiva II-System von L-Acoustics, welches damit seine Premiere auf einer Tour im deutschsprachigen Raum feiern konnte. Für die Hauptbeschallung der Wise Guys setzen der zuständige Dienstleister Session Pro und Projektleiter Janis Respondek auf insgesamt 24 Einheiten Kiva II, unterstützt von 8 x SB15 m Subwoofern. „Wir benötigten ein kompaktes, leichtes und modulares System, um die stark unterschiedlichen Hallengrößen ideal abzudecken“, erläutert Janis Respondek. „Die Bandbreite der Venues erstreckt sich dabei von klassischen Theatern über Stadthallen bis hin zu kleinen Arenen. Oft gibt es nur begrenzte Kapazitäten hinsichtlich der Belastbarkeit von Hängepunkten und Bühnenzügen und so müssen wir hin und wieder auf eine Groundstack-Variante ausweichen.“
Die geflogene Konfiguration aus Kiva II und SB15 m erzeugt eine gleichmäßige Tonalität in der Tiefe der zu beschallenden Fläche und ermöglicht es den beiden Systemtechnikern Benjamin Mengler und Matthias Huber, das gesamte Spektrum der Stimmen im geflogenen Array abzubilden. Ergänzt wird das Hauptsystem durch 6 x SB18 für Basseffekte am Boden. „Bei bestuhlten Shows ist es nicht immer möglich, mit Sub-Arcs vor der Bühne zu arbeiten, so dass man in diesen Fällen auf ein klassisches L/R-System ausweichen muss“, so Janis Respondek. Als Nearfill kommen 6 x 8XT zum Einsatz, als Outfill- oder Center-Cluster setzt das Team von Session Pro zudem auf 6 x Arcs WiFo, um die Hörbarkeit und die Ortung des Bühnengeschehens für die Zuschauer zu gewährleisten.
Angesprochen auf die möglicherweise besonderen Anforderungen an die Beschallung einer A-Cappella-Show antwortet Projektleiter Janis Respondek: „Um ehrlich zu sein haben wir uns im Vorfeld diesbezüglich keine Gedanken zu diesem Thema gemacht. Pünktlich zum 25. Bandjubiläum und nach sechs Jahren Bühnenabstinenz sind die Beginner wieder da. Fresh wie immer und mit dem brandneuen Album „Advanced Chemistry“ im Gepäck lassen es Eizi Eiz, Denyo und DJ Mad richtig krachen. Immerhin mussten ihre Fans ganze 13 Jahre auf ein neues Album warten. Zwischenzeitlich wurde immer wieder spekuliert, wann die neue Scheibe des Hamburger Trios nun wirklich erhältlich wäre. Erste Anzeichen gab es bereits 2010, dann 2011 und schließlich 2012 - und trotzdem mussten sich die Fans dann noch ganze vier Jahre bis zur ersten Auskopplung gedulden. Mit dem Album im August 2016 wurde schließlich auch die Tour angekündigt. Der erste Teil mit 14 Stopps tourte bereits im November und Dezember durch Deutschland, Anfang 2017 stehen weitere 16 Termine auf der Agenda.
Für das Lichtdesign der Tour zeichnet diesmal Bertil Mark verantwortlich und dieser bediente sich dafür aus dem Portfolio von GLP. Insbesondere bei der neuen Hybridlampe GT-1, von denen alleine 70 Stück mit auf der Tour sind. „Ich mag das Gefühl und den Punch dieser Multi-Fixtures. Ich war erstmals im Sommer bei Rammstein mit dieser Lampe unterwegs und ihre Flexibilität hat mich überzeugt. Enge, satte Beams oder schöne Mid-Air Effekte sind kein Problem“, so Bertil Mark über den GT-1, der mit einem stufenlosen Zoom von 2,5 bis 55 Grad überzeugen zu weiß und selbst im Beam Mode ganz ohne zusätzliche Blenden auskommt.
Neben den GT-1 mit seiner 440 Watt Osram Sirius HRI Entladungslampe setzt Bertil Mark bei der aktuellen Tour aber auch auf die LED-Modelle aus der Impression Serie. Hier steht der Fixture Count bei 56 Impression X4 Bar 20 und 24 impression X4. Bei den Beginnern kommen die Bars gleich an verschiedenen Stellen zum Einsatz: auf der Bühnenkante im Rigg, und als rautenförmige Designelemente direkt über den Künstlern. „Die Idee dahinter ist, dass ich es schön finde, zur Abwechslung auch einmal eckiges Licht einsetzen zu können.“, beschreibt der Designer den Einsatzort der Bars. Insgesamt 24 Impression X4 mit 19 RGBW LED und 7-50 Grad Zoom setzt Bertil Mark auf Stativen an der Bühnenseite ein. Sie sorgen dort für Farbe und Bewegung auf dem gesamten Set.

Panic At The Disco: Death of a Bachelor Tour 2016

Adlib renewed its long term working relationship with Grammy nominated US rock band Panic At The Disco, providing sound, video and lighting production, plus crew for their recent UK and European tours. Once again Tony Marino was at the helm as the highly-respected tour manager. The band released their fifth studio album, "Death of a Bachelor" in January 2016 and have had a mega busy year.
Lighting designer Alex Specht took a floor package for the European dates, which was supplemented by a full overhead rig and video for the high-profile UK gigs in Manchester, Cardiff and two sold out nights at London’s Alexandra Palace where this leg of the tour came to an exhilarating end. The high-impact floor package comprised two grids of 3 x 5 Ayrton Magicdots which were built into special roll-on-roll-off dollies designed by Adlib and streamlined for quick deployment of the 30 Magicdots upstage. There were also two Atomic strobes attached to the dollies, with four more dotted around the risers. In front of the dollies on flight cases were four Claypaky Mythos plus two more either side downstage, giving a total of 10 Mythos.
Six Sharpy Washes were joined by six Chauvet Strike 4 LED blinders - a fixture in which Adlib has invested in this year due to rising popularity. These were all dotted around the three-tiered band riser with the piano upstage centre, drums in front of that, trumpets either side and two levels of steps at the front descending to stage level.
For the UK production was ramped up. The Magicdots were extracted from the dollies and the frames butted together upstage to create the "Great Wall of Magicdots" which was sub-hung from a rear truss and flanked by two 5-metre-high by 3 metre wide portrait format Absen A3 LED video screens.
For travelling, the Magicdot frames were fitted into meat racks instead of the original dollies. Three trusses - front, mid and back - were installed to provide standard lighting positions over the stage and populated with 16 x Claypaky Mythos’ as the main hard-edged/beam moving lights and 16 x Martin MAC Quantum washes for the wash movers. Ten CP Sharpies rigged in two clusters of five on the back truss, were used to provide big raucous symmetrical rock'n'roll looks adding some impressive geometric effects. Dotted around the back and mid trusses were eight Atomic strobes, with more Strike 4’s on the front and mid truss. A grandMA2 light was supplied as Alex’s console of choice.
Two Green Hippo Hippotizer Karst media servers were used to store and play back all the video content which was timecode triggered. The content was supplied by Panic’s production and had been created ahead of their summer shows in the US. Tom Webber looked after the lighting package on the European dates and was then joined by Adlib’s Mike Summerfield, Jon Priest and Peter Lea. One of the visual high points was a rousing rendition of Queen’s iconic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, officially released as a cover in August this year, complete with video parody of the legendary rock anthem. The show was full of dramatic hard-hitting lighting interspersed with some more contemporary looks, all clearly inspired by classic rock lighting.
For audio, Adlib supplied a complete control and monitor package for the European leg of the tour, tech’d by Julien Helme in Europe, adding a full L-Acoustics K1/K2 racks-and-stacks system for the four UK dates and joined by Tony Szabo and Gavin Murray. Adlib’s systems engineer Tony Szabo, worked closely with Panic’s FOH engineer Spencer Jones (also the Production Manager) and their monitor guru Spud (Jeremy Groshong). Alexandra Palace was the largest iteration of the system, for which they installed 10 x K1 speakers a side, each K1 array had four Kara downfills. This was supplemented by two delay hangs of 8 x K2s, positioned just behind the FOH. These same K2 hangs had been the side hangs in Cardiff Arena which is a wider lower room. Now being able to fly off the main arch, which is part of the Alexandra Palace building superstructure, it was possible to attain the optimum 10 metre positions stage left and right for the main arrays, so everyone in the centre could enjoy a full sonic experience.
Sixteen KS28 subs were positioned under and next to the stage in a stack of two and then three and then another three stacked with four Arcs front fills on top. L-Acoustics Kara speakers were utilised along the front lip of stage to cover those fans who managed to get the prime viewing position dead centre of the barricade. The subs and K2 were powered by the new L-Acoustics LA12X amplifiers with the rest of the system driven by LA8s as Adlib have been growing their stock of the new amps. Adlib’s Lake Control rack dealt with the system EQ and signal distribution and runs over fibre and Dante. Tony has recently implemented Smaart v8 to sit alongside his Meyer SIM3.
The Control rack utilises two Mac Minis in a Sonnet rackmount. These computers are configured for redundancy and run everything to do with the system: L-Acoustics Network Manager, Smaart v8, Dante Controller, iTunes for wav playback, Focusrite Red Net. The Lake system is controlled using a Motion Computing tablet on 5G Wifi. Finished off with a Lectrosonics HM/R400A RF system and Earthworks measurement mic. Spud’s console of choice for the monitor mix was an Avid Profile supplied with Venue DSP local and stage racks. A Digico SD10 was specified by Spencer for FOH complete with SD rack and Madi interface, with an SD9 in the loop for the opening acts. The band supplied their own full set of Shure IEMs which were run with a set of Shure UHF-R wireless radio mics and control from Adlib who also provided a standard mics-and-stands package.
The challenge each night was getting the sound above the rambunctious loudness and piercing screams of Panic’s hugely enthusiastic fans who effortlessly hit the 112 dBA mark as they become fully immersed in the set with the band. ‘It’s a tricky task, but Spencer has been doing it for some time and has fine-tuned his techniques to ensure everyone gets a fantastic sound” concluded Tony.
There was also a small stage package consisting of six Adlib bi-amp monitors plus the usual compliment of microphones, stands & cables for the opening act. Phil Kielty Client Manager commented, “We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with Panic on and off for 10 years and seeing their live side evolve has been quite incredible. They came over in January and played an awesome and emotional show in Brixton, just after David Bowie had passed. Since then we’ve been with them from Moscow to Madrid and the energy put into the live shows is something else. Tony Marino and Spencer Jones have created a great family atmosphere amongst the crew, and it’s a pleasure to be involved.”

Placebo: Retrospective Tour 2016

UK rental specialist Colour Sound Experiment made some serious investments for the current Placebo “Retrospective” arena tour which features a visual design by Jvan Morandi, for which the west London company is delivering the full lighting, video and rigging package. This includes a new Kinesys automation system; new robo and static video cameras and new Robe Spiider Wash Beam moving lights amongst several other purchases.
Colour Sound’s Haydn “H” Cruickshank says, “We were delighted to win this tour which presented a perfect opportunity for us to expand our video department, invest in comprehensive and sophisticated motion control and expand the extensive moving light stock with the latest Robe technology, together with smoke machines, fans, cabling infrastructure and much more”.
Jvan Morandi has developed an original aesthetic for the show, which highlights 20 years of Placebo at the forefront of the alternative rock movement, coinciding with the release of a new compilation album, “A Place for us to Dream” and the start of this touring and live performance campaign. Jvan wanted a simple clean look for the stage - almost like a lightbox but with moving image. This large video presence on stage is a break from past Placebo tours, on which Jvan has worked since 2005, and his challenge was to make it inventive, interesting and unconventional. He decided on a large screen at the back for impact when needed, also a surface area that can be minimised and changed completely with clever content application. “I needed a video presence on the show but wanted to bring a different, iconic and provocative visuality to assist a real live curation referencing 20 years of incredible work and moments,” he said. Over the years Jvan has always produced fresh and imaginative ideas and looks for his varied client base, and not selling his soul or the heart out of a design is one of his trademarks.
The 18 metre wide by 6 metre high upstage screen is made up of Colour Sound’s BT20 product. Crew Chief James Hind and Frankie McDade - both Colour Sound crew - also designed special touring frames into which the LED screen is fitted to enable quick and expedient deployment and de-rigging/storing for transport. The screen itself is hung on a run of JTE 52cm super truss.
In addition to this, there are five I-shaped trussing pods flown in the upstage/downstage orientation which have 2 x 1 metre frames of BT-7 LED screen on the audience facing ends. The five pods move up and down into several different shapes and positions during the show, each on two Liftket half tonne vari-speed motors powered by Kinesys Elevation 1+ drive units. Two 5 x 6 metre side screens, also BT-7, are flown on JTE super tower truss, finished with three 2 lite moles to connect them to the show.
The playback content has been crafted especially for the tour by Jvan, some of it comprising re-mashed music videos from Placebo’s vast body of work over the years, and some of it brand new graphic style material. The appearance of all the content takes a more cinematic approach, “It’s about 20 years of a ground-breaking indie band who have always pushed creative boundaries musically and lyrically, so I wanted to create a live film playing behind them that helped provoke a new energy for the audience but something that is also relevant”.
The 10-camera package comprises five Panasonic AW-HE60Ss and five AW-HE2S static cameras which are dotted around the stage and clamped to various bits of backline kit. The robo-cams are operated on alternate shows by Frankie and Colour Sound crew member Chris Foot. At FOH fitted with a 76 mm long lens, is an operated Sony HX-100 broadcast camera. All the camera feeds go into a Black Magic Design ATEM 2ME switcher, with the mix cut by camera director Fergus Noble. He’s been involved in various Placebo video aspects since 2007, so he and Jvan enjoy a great synergy. He knows the style and look of shots that Jvan is looking for. The camera feeds then go into the Catalyst media server – together with the playback video – and are mapped to the various screen surfaces. As the requirement – from both the band and Jvan – was for a non-mainstream ‘IMAG’ mix, a range of pre-selected treatments created by Jvan are also applied to the camera signals in the Catalyst, which is triggered by lighting director on the road/operator Hunter Frith, via his Chamsys MQ200 console.
The end result is a stark, stripped back yet fluid collage of moving images evolved by Jvan and Fergus, plus edgy grading, colour and texturing that harmonises with the music, deconstructing the images, combining with the lighting and subverting the expected. The movement of the pods changes the shape and identity of the performance space dynamically, especially during the last third of the set, when they start taking on some extreme angles. "It’s essentially a visual system rather than an IMAG mix", explained Jvan, providing a pivotal visual environment in which the band play that “leaves a lasting impression of Placebo at this seminal point in their career”.
Once the vibe of the video was established to a specific point, Jvan then started adding lighting to the bigger picture.
As with the video, it was all about being off-beat and daring, with lighting fixture placement crucial in maintaining the stylish minimalism of the oeuvre. Each of the pods - in addition to the video screen at the audience end - contains four of Robe’s new Spiider LED Wash Beam product, two Robe BMFL Spots and four Claypaky Stormy LED strobes. The Spiiders are used as the main wash lights covering the band and stage in conjunction with some LEDWash 600s on the front truss. Colour Sound devised custom bracketry to centre the lights to on the pods and fix them solidly for the more acute inclines. A new Kinesys Vector control system was part of the automation package, which has been programmed by James who also runs automation for the show.
The pods are flown on a 6 x 16 metre box mother-grid made up from Litec QL52 trussing, with the rest of the rig on Litec Exerise hoists, part of another major purchase by Colour Sound earlier in the year. The front truss is loaded with eight BMFL Spots, four LED Wash 600s and eight 2-cell Moles, the latter facing into the audience as the show involves plenty of audience interaction. Behind the semi-transparent BT-20 screen at the back is ‘the matrix ‘, a set of three 17 metre long stacked QX30 trusses, each rigged with 12 x Prolights Diamond 7 Beam fixtures and six 2-cell Moles. When these come on they add huge depth to the space and an additional dimension – suddenly shooting through what initially appears to be a solid surface.
On the floor - in a line upstage - are eight BMFL Spots on the deck, 10 x Stormies which are also used for colour washing effects and eight 2-lite Moles. On the downstage edge of the floor are six more Diamond 7s a side, plus three more Spiiders a side for low level cross lighting and effects and also for beaming out into the audience pulling them into the stage action. The central flower effect of the Spiiders is used to texture the audience very effectively.
Atmosphere is another essential visual element with as much attention to detail paid to smoke and haze as to video, lighting and automation by Jvan. It’s provided by six new Smoke Factory Tour Hazer IIs plus two Jem ZR44s and four powerful TMB Pro Fans to move it strategically into the right places. Hunter runs all the show visuals from the Chamsys MQ200 including the Catalyst media server, utilizing three Chamsys Snakesys R8 eight universe Ethernet to DMX convertors and ever reliable pulsar DMX buffers. Other new/special items sourced for the tour include a dimmer dolly along with two 72 way SES power "D type" distros and Outboard motor controllers for the non - Kinesys motors. Joining James, Frankie and Chris on the Colour Sound crew is Aamer Diaz. Keeping everything in check on the road by production manager is Allan Moffat and the tour rigger is Katy Flanders. Adlib is supplying the audio.
Kinesys automation is also central to show designer Morandi’s visual concept: Ten Kinesys Elevation 1+ vari-speed drive units, used with 10 x half tonne Liftket motors and Kinesys Vector control are being used to move five I-shaped trussing pods rigged in the roof above the stage. The system is another brand new investment in automation by Colour Sound. Haydn Cruickshank comments, “We have sub-rented Kinesys systems as needed for some time now, so we know all about the kit.” In addition to the Liftkets, Elevation 1+s and Vector control, the system also includes a Kinesys Array PD-ES and Mentor series 3 for SIL 3 compliance which is required for touring in parts of Europe. The Vector platform is palette based, so updating the positional information each day as the height, shape and dimensions of the stage change is very quick and easy, and any show can be adapted for a venue with lower or higher roof clearance.

Jean Pierre - genannt JP - Kraemer, allen Freunden der motorisierten Fortbewegung aus dem TV-Format „PS-Profis – Mehr Power aus dem Pott“ sowie durch seinen äußerst erfolgreichen YouTube-Kanal bekannt, zieht es auf die große Bühne. Mit „PS: Ich liebe euch“ tourt er von März bis Mai 2017 mit seiner ersten eigenen Liveshow durch deutsche Arenen.
Am 5. November feierte die Show bereits Premiere in der Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. MA Veranstaltungstechnik aus Greven ist für die gesamte technische Planung und Umsetzung der Tour verantwortlich. Dies umfasst das Rigging, die Licht-, Ton- und Videotechnik, die technische Planung/Leitung und die Personalgestellung sowie das Set- und Lichtdesign. Daneben betreut das Unternehmen auch die Hebetechnik, die erforderlich ist, um zwei Fahrzeuge, die Teil des Bühnenbildes sind, auf die Bühne zu heben.
„Eines der beiden auf der Bühne eingesetzten Fahrzeuge ist ‚tiefer gelegt’ und hat nur vier Zentimeter Bodenfreiheit“, erläutert Manuel Averbeck, Geschäftsführer von MA Veranstaltungstechnik, den Grund für den Einsatz von Hebetechnik. „Rechnerisch wäre deshalb eine circa 45 Meter lange Rampe nötig gewesen, um das Fahrzeug auf die Bühne schieben zu können. Das war natürlich produktionstechnisch nicht machbar. Deshalb haben wir uns entschieden, die Autos mit vier Chainmaster D8+ 800 kg Elektrokettenzügen anzuheben und nach Erreichen der Bühnenhöhe auf eine Hilfs-Rollbühne abzusetzen, um sie von dort aus auf die Bühne zu schieben.“ Neben den genannten 800 kg Kettenzügen kamen insgesamt noch 28 weitere 500 kg D8+ Kettenzüge von Chainmaster zum Einsatz. Manuel Averbeck selbst entwickelte das Licht- und Setdesign der Show, Tobias Schniggendiller übernimmt das Operating.
Für das Lichtdesign setzte Averbeck verstärkt auf Robe: acht Robin BMFL Wash XF, sechs Robin BMFL Blade, 18 Robin 600 LED Wash und zwölf Robin Pointe kamen zum Einsatz, ergänzt durch 16 Litecraft SunX.10, einen Arkaos Medienserver und zwei Hazebase Base Hazer Pro. Die BMFL setzt Averbeck als Bühnenfrontlicht ein, die Wash XF als klassisches Bühnenfrontlicht, die Blade speziell für die Inszenierung der Fahrzeuge auf der Bühne. Als Seiten- und Gegenlicht kommen die Robin 600 LED Wash zum Einsatz. Die Pointe fungieren als Effektlicht, während die SunX.10 als Bodenrampen eingesetzt werden. „Da der Backdrop der jeweiligen Szenen mit Video-Content bespielt wurde, musste das Frontlicht sowohl für die Fahrzeuge als auch für den gesamten Bühnenbereich punktgenau eingegrenzt werden, um die Projektion nicht zu beleuchten“, erläutert Produktionsleiter Averbeck.

Mett-Genuss, FC, Internetsucht, Mütter und Töchter, Frauenrollen, der IS - die Themen liefern sich den Schlagabtausch, feministisch irgendwie, aber ohne die grimmige Miene der Frauenbewegungen, sondern mit derbem, Kölschem Humor.
Als fester Tourneepartner brachte Contour neben dem mitreisenden Personal individuell mit Showlicht bestückte PRT Trusses mit, sorgt für klaren Sound bis in den hintersten Hallenwinkel mithilfe von Meyer Sound-Beschallungssystemen und übernahm die Kommunikation für die technische Abwicklung mit den einzelnen Locations. Proximus, SiA, Lawo, NEP Belgium and Videohouse launched the IP Remote Production technology for live broadcast of Proximus Football League in Belgium. SiA, the production company of the Proximus group, selected Lawo’s solution to deliver its IP Remote Production infrastructure. To realize the project, SiA, Proximus, Lawo, NEP Belgium and Videohouse established a joint ‘dream team’. With Proximus delivering the network, Lawo the IP Remote technology, SIA its TV facilities and NEP Belgium and Videohouse the expertise on the field. This is the first time the technology is deployed on such a scale for a football competition in Belgium.

Das Kloster San Esteban in Salamanca (Spanien) diente als Kulisse für das Festival de Luz y Vanguardias, das in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal ausgerichtet wurde und die markantesten Denkmäler der Stadt als Projektionsflächen nutzte. Drei Christie Boxer 4K30-Projektoren, die von der Miet- und Bühnenbaufirma Sono eingesetzt wurden, sorgten mit 90.000 Lumen für ein Mapping auf das Kloster.
